QUALIFICATIONS

        Bachelor’s degree in Athletic training from an accredited college or university required.

        Currently licensed (or eligible) in the State of New York as an Athletic Trainer.

        Certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).

        Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification via the American Heart Association.

        Must show National BOC Certification from NATA during reference checking period of employment; New York State Athletic Training Licensure, and be a member of the NYSATA in good standing.     

        Preferred: Master’s Degree in related field and two years as a certified athletic trainer.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

        Understands and demonstrates skill in appropriate methods of athletic training for pediatric, adolescent and adult patients.  Practices in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and New York State High School Athletic Association policies and procedures.

     provides education to athletes, coaches, parents and other staff on conditioning, rest, diet, exercise, and re-conditioning, injury and concussion surveillance and safe return to sport, and monitoring.

     Serves as liaison between physicians, coaching staff, and parents.

     Prevents, recognizes, evaluates, and provides immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries/illness. 

     Determines an individuals’ readiness to participate in athletics.  Effectively communicate with athletes, athlete’s family (where appropriate), and staff regarding the athlete’s playing status.

     Establishes treatment programs and makes appropriate referrals.

     Evaluates athletes’ needs for protective equipment, conditioning programs, and further medical cares.

     Demonstrates the ability to appropriately use the chain of command and protocol in injury management (e.g., appropriate documentation, athlete’s family (where appropriate) and staff notification).

      Actively attends and represents at events, coaches meetings, community events, and Orthopedic Sports Medicine staff meetings.  Promotes rehab therapy and sports medicine by participating in community service activities both in the facility and in the community with the physical therapy department.

     As needed, provides athletic medicine coverage of events that are affiliated programs.

     Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and independent learning experiences and other forums.

Teacher of Speech and Hearing Disabled or Speech Pathologist - Jefferson County Region,  Provide speech therapist services to students with disabilities as specified in Individual Education Plans and speech improvement services to non-disabled students.  NYS Certification/license in Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Speech and Hearing Disabled required.  Preference given to Licensed Speech Pathologists.  Salary:  $44,330-50,730, commensurate with experience and in-keeping with the negotiated agreement with the BOCES Professional Association. Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired -Itinerant Assignment.   This is an itinerant assignment serving the school districts within Jefferson & Lewis Counties. Responsibilities/Duties: The Teacher of the Blind & Visually Impaired provides specialized instruction to K-12 students who have a vision disability. Services include direct instruction, consultation, and co-teaching as appropriate. Qualifications:  NYS Certification as Teacher of Blind & Partially Sighted. Salary$44,330-50,730. Salary commensurate with experience and in keeping with the negotiated agreement.  Starting Date: ASAP  Apply byOpen until the position is filled.
