The Jefferson-Lewis BOCES has the following vacancies:

Adult Education Literacy Instructor -  part-time - Jefferson County Correctional Facility (JCCF). Days:  Monday-Friday, 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week, Time 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 12:00-2:00 p.m. (adjustable).  Schedule:  ASAP - June 30, 2017.   JCCF must conduct a background check and approve candidate prior to hire.  To provide mandated educational services to 1) Incarcerated youth under Chapter 683 of the Laws of NYS and Part 118 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education and 2) incarcerated adults 21 years and older who do not have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma.  Candidate must have teaching experience and the willingness to obtain proper certification (e.g., NYSED fingerprinting prior to start date and adult education certificate after hire).   The ideal candidate will have a valid NYS secondary 7-12 teaching certification in any discipline.  Background clearance is required prior to hire as per JCCF policy.  Salary:  $19 per hour, Starting date:  ASAP, Closing Date:  Open as per qualified Candidate Hire. 

Substitute Cleaner - Charles H. Bohlen, Jr. Technical Center - Watertown. Cleaner work includes cleaning duties at multiple BOCES Sites.  Ability to lift a minimum of 20lbs.   Hours varied.   Start ASAP, $10.68 per hour.  Send application to: Michele A. Clinical Nursing Instructors for Adult LPN program - (part-time) - NYS Registered Nurse with current license and experience working in local nursing home/hospital setting.  Fingerprinting, DASA Training, School Violence Workshop and application for a clinical permit from NYSED.  Hourly wage:  $35.00 per hour.  Starting date:  ASAP, Apply by:  Open until the positions are filled.  
  
Substitutes needed for LPN/Aides for the Programs for Exceptional Students Department.  NYS License as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Salary:   $70.00 per day.    
 
Teacher of Speech and Hearing Disabled or Speech Pathologist - Jefferson County Region,  Provide speech therapist services to students with disabilities as specified in Individual Education Plans and speech improvement services to non-disabled students.  NYS Certification/license in Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Speech and Hearing Disabled required.  Preference given to Licensed Speech Pathologists.  Salary:  $44,330-50,730, commensurate with experience and in-keeping with the negotiated agreement with the BOCES Professional Association. Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired -Itinerant Assignment.   This is an itinerant assignment serving the school districts within Jefferson & Lewis Counties. Responsibilities/Duties: The Teacher of the Blind & Visually Impaired provides specialized instruction to K-12 students who have a vision disability. Services include direct instruction, consultation, and co-teaching as appropriate. Qualifications:  NYS Certification as Teacher of Blind & Partially Sighted. Salary$44,330-50,730. Salary commensurate with experience and in keeping with the negotiated agreement.  Starting Date: ASAP  Apply byOpen until the position is filled.
 
Teacher Aides - 5 positions available - Jefferson County Schools - Qualifications:  Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, ability to lift and reposition students, excellent written and oral communication skills, High School Diploma required or GED and fingerprinting.  Salary:  $14,898-15,898.  Commensurate with experience and in keeping with the negotiated agreement with the CSEA Bargaining Unit.  Starting Date:  March 20, 2017, Apply by:  March 1, 2017.  
 
Teacher Assistants - 2 positions available - Jefferson County Schools - Programs for Exceptional Students Department - Qualifications: NYS Certification as a Teacher Assistant, Level 1:  Valid for three years, High School Diploma or GED, Child Abuse Workshop, School Violence Workshop, DASA Training, Fingerprinting, and  Assessment of Teacher Assistant Skills Test (ATAS), Salary:  $15,911-16,911.
