Wong & Wong
"A set of techniques and skills that allow a teacher to control students effectively in order to create a positive learning environment for all students."

Why Classroom Management?
When teachers hear the phrase "classroom management" discipline is what comes to mind. Classroom management is much more than discipline. When a classroom is effectively managed, discipline is one of the last things a teacher has to worry about.
It is important for a teacher to think about a high quality environment, effective instructional strategies, acknowledgement of students, and building positive relationships with students. Thinking about each of those items allows the teacher to avoid discipline and to focus on teaching.
