On March 2, 2024, students from Region 8 & 9 will be showcasing their creativity during the Odyssey of the Mind Regional competition.
Case Middle School in Watertown will be full of creative kids who are hoping to show off their intelligence and their creativity in this important tournament. World Finals at Iowa State University in May.
Students have spent months of their free time solving problems as well as developing teamwork skills, independent study, friendships, confidence, and most importantly – thinking outside-of-the-box! They learn new things and utilize their strengths to solve the problem. Teams also learn how to budget money since there is a cost limit to each problem. This means you will see creative costumes, props, dances, songs, gymnastics, instruments, and much more.
Not only do they have to compete within their chosen problem, but teams must also perform well in a “spontaneous problem,” where they solve a new problem on the spot. They must be creative and quick thinking.
The tournament starts at 8:30 am with the Awards Ceremony beginning at approximately 1:45 pm.
Spectators are welcome to join the rest of the supporters of Odyssey of the Mind parents, coaches, judges, teachers, and students. They all work together with the common goal of giving kids a chance to express their creativity, support the arts, and to learn new things in a fun environment.
