BOCES Appoints Christina Chamberlain as Assistant Superintendent for Programs

BOCES is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Chamberlain as the next Assistant Superintendent for Programs. The Board of Education formally approved the appointment at their meeting Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Chamberlain currently serves as the Superintendent for the South Jefferson Central School District.She brings a strong background in education and school leadership to this new role.

 “The work undertaken by BOCES is grounded in advancing high quality, equitable, and innovative programing,” says Chamberlain. “I am excited to continue that work with the teams in place and collaborate with the component school districts to ensure students in the region receive a quality education.”

Chamberlain brings over 20 years of educational and administrative experience to BOCES. She served for 12 years as a special education teacher in the Indian River, Sandy Creek and South Jefferson school districts. At Indian River, Chamberlain served as Assistant Supervisor of Special Education and Federal Programs, PreK-12 Curriculum Director, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. She has served as the Superintendent of the South Jefferson Central School District since 2023.

“Serving the South Jefferson community has been one of the greatest professional honors of my career. I am incredibly proud of all that we in the district have accomplished together and deeply grateful for the relationships, experiences, and shared commitment to students that have defined my time there,” says Chamberlain

Chamberlain earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Textual Studies and Secondary Education from Syracuse University. She also earned her master’s degrees in Education in Students with Disabilities and English Language Arts from Le Moyne College. Chamberlain received her Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Educational Administration from SUNY Oswego.

With this appointment, Chamberlain will be working closely with BOCES’ 18 component school districts to ensure quality and innovative instructional programming is offered to students in our region via career & technical, adult & continuing, and special education. Her new role will also include ensuring effective and relevant professional development continues to be provided to educators in this region.

“As I step into this new role, I look forward to building strong partnerships, with meaningful collaboration, and learning from the expertise that already exists throughout our programs,” says Chamberlain. “It is clear that BOCES has a strong tradition of innovation, service, and student-centered work and I am eager to contribute to the continued success and growth of these fantastic programs. I look forward to meeting with members of the BOCES Team to gauge their ideas for how we can continue creating impactful opportunities for students across our component districts.”

“We are excited about Christina's extensive leadership experience in curriculum and instruction as well as her background and special education administration,” says Christopher DiFulvio, BOCES District Superintendent. “She has spent many years as a school district leader, most recently a superintendent, and will be a key leader in helping not only elevate our BOCES programming but supporting our component districts, school and district level leaders, and superintendents.”

Chamberlain will be the successor to Leslie LaRose-Collins, who will be retiring on July 31. Chamberlain's tentative start date is August 13, but BOCES will be working with the South Jefferson Board of Education regarding an official start date.
